ABSTRACT

Since 1949 the "Istituto Sperimentale per l'Agrumicoltura" in Acireale has used selection from the field and the production and selection of nucellar plants as a means of improving the sanitary status of citrus trees.

In the last 15 years it has also used "in vitro" culture techniques for nucellus, undeveloped ovules and shoot-tip grafting. This report contains the results so far obtained using the latest "in vitro" techniques.
