ABSTRACT

A poro-visco-elastic damage model for quasi-brittle porous materials, based on the theory of damage mechanics and the theory of open porous media, is presented. A viscous and damage porosity, which models the coupling effect between fluid mass transfer, the visco-elastic and damage behaviour. The effect of capillary pressure, damage and viscous phenomena on volumetric strain, such as shrinkage and swelling cannot be neglected. On the other hand, mechanical loading and damage has only a negligible effect on capillary pressure and moisture content.
