ABSTRACT

Tunnelling equipment design and manufacturing capabilities have made enormous progress in recent years, resulting in increased machine productivity and lower operating costs. However the hardware itself is only half the equation, with software in the form of the manufacturer’s continued involvement through extended service support being the other half. The paper covers various forms of user/supplier partnerships in equipment service and provides actual examples of such associations at major project sites in Asia. All be it there can be many more examples of these service contracts around the world.
