ABSTRACT

The enameled test rods were embedded in a mortar prepared in accordance with ASTM C 109, “Standard Test Method for Determining Compressive Strength of Hydraulic Cement Mortars.” The proportion of the standard mortar was one part cement (Type I-II) to 2.75 parts of standard graded sand (ASTM C 778). The water-to-cement ratio was maintained at 0.485. Test cylinders were prepared for each mortar batch and tested to determine the unconfined compressive strength at seven days. All test results were within the limits recognized as standard for thisASTM mixture proportion.
