ABSTRACT
This chapter discusses the nature of belief. It contrasts representationalist theories of belief with dispositionalist theories. A central concern is the link between belief and action: we act on the basis of beliefs, which can serve as premises in practical reasoning. We also consider the distinction between moral and nonmoral beliefs.
