ABSTRACT
Over the years, a large number of publications directly or indirectly related to engineering system reliability, safety, and maintenance have appeared in the form of journal articles, conference proceeding articles and technical reports. This chapter presents some of the facts, the figures, and the examples, directly or indirectly, concerned with engineering system reliability/safety/maintenance. It provides number of terms and definitions used in the area of engineering system reliability, safety, and maintenance. Some of which a few are safety management, preventive maintenance, predictive maintenance, failure mode and human reliability. There are many sources for obtaining information, directly or indirectly, concerned with engineering system reliability, safety, and maintenance. The chapter also provides some of the most useful sources under a number of distinct categories namely, organizations, journals and magazines, data information sources, standards and reports, relevant books, and conference proceedings. It also presents an overview of some key concepts discussed in this book.
